Route 29

Route 29 travels through the heart of Napa Valley, which is arguably a perfect home for Cabernet Sauvignon. On a drive down Route 29, you will pass many of the vineyards that supplied perfectly ripe grapes for this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage Report

A warm, dry spring brought early budbreak, helped with canopy vigor and berry size, and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set under sunny skies. With the exception of one heat spike in late June/early July, temperatures were consistently in the zone for optimal vine activity, resulting in notably healthy vines as fruit went through veraison and started ripening. The start of harvest was the earliest in recent history, about two weeks earlier than other Napa Valley harvests in the last decade. Yields on the whole have been above average. – Napa Valley Vintners: Napa Valley Harvest Report 2013

Barrel Aging: 18% months in 95% French oak (38% new)

Tasting Notes

Quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the best way to describe this complex medium-to-big-bodied wine. The nose is blackberries, anise and toasted nuts; the palate offers flavors of mocha, mushrooms, walnuts and plums with a nice long, firm finish. This wine drinks beautifully now and will continue to do for years to come. – Vance Rose, Winemaker

"...this is a very good, straightforward Napa cabernet sauvignon, well shaped and lightly tannic, with flavors of dark fruits, earth and herbs that are unexaggerated. How often can you find that for $20? Bring on the burgers and lamb chops."
Eric Asimov, October 6, 2016

“With small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this wine opens in green olive and celery, with a tease of mint, before unleashing a mouthfilling core of black cherry and cassis. Lively acidity presides over all, giving a powerful backbone to a sophisticated wine.”

“Made by former Chandon and Louis Martini winemaker Wayne Donaldson, this well-constructed Cab offers herbal blackberry and dark raspberry fruit around a core of soft tannins. It has a touch of grip to the finish, which is accented in richly roasted coffee…”
Virginie Boone, February 2015
