Vintage Report

A warm, dry spring brought early budbreak, helped with canopy vigor and berry size, and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set under sunny skies. With the exception of one heat spike in late June/early July, temperatures were consistently in the zone for optimal vine activity, resulting in notably healthy vines as fruit went through veraison and started ripening. The start of harvest was the earliest in recent history, about two weeks earlier than other Napa Valley harvests in the last decade. Yields on the whole have been above average. – Napa Valley Vintners: Napa Valley Harvest Report 2013

Vinification

Barrel Aging: 18% months in 95% French oak (38% new)

"...this is a very good, straightforward Napa cabernet sauvignon, well shaped and lightly tannic, with flavors of dark fruits, earth and herbs that are unexaggerated. How often can you find that for $20? Bring on the burgers and lamb chops."

“With small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this wine opens in green olive and celery, with a tease of mint, before unleashing a mouthfilling core of black cherry and cassis. Lively acidity presides over all, giving a powerful backbone to a sophisticated wine.”
